Journey to Kudremukh’s Peak: Indrajeet's Kudremukh Trek Review with Thrillophilia
After months of talking about going on a trek, my friends and I finally decided Kudremukh was the one. While looking for options, we found Thrillophilia and their well-organized trips really stood out. Booking with them was hassle-free, and after reading a few reviews, we knew this was the right choice to make our adventure memorable.
The Journey to Kudremukh
I’ve always been someone who loves adventure, but this trek to Kudremukh was different. It was a planned group trip with seven other friends, and we all got together in Bangalore to head towards our destination. We had arranged to meet at four different points across the city- Indiranagar, Domlur, Yeshwantpur, and Gorguntepalya. The idea was to pick everyone up, and from there, we’d begin our overnight journey. I was a bit sceptical about the long bus ride to the start of the trek, but everyone was so excited that it didn't matter. There was a sense of togetherness right from the start.
The roads weren’t exactly the best, and the bumpy ride kept most of us awake for a while. That didn't stop us from cracking jokes and talking about the trek ahead. Our driver was fairly experienced with these kinds of trips, so we had a comfortable ride despite the ups and downs. The thoughts of what lay ahead kept my mind busy through the night. By the time we reached Kudremukh early in the morning, we were all feeling a mix of exhaustion and exhilaration. We had some time to rest and get ready before starting the trek, but I wasn’t sure whether I’d be able to catch much sleep. The nerves were kicking in.
The Trek Begins
We had a quick breakfast, and the moment we got to Kudremukh National Park, we were greeted by the sight of lush green forests. The weather was cloudy with a slight chill in the air - perfect for an outdoor adventure. I was with a bunch of experienced trekkers, so I knew it wasn’t going to be a walk in the park. Everyone was enthusiastic, but as soon as we started climbing, I could tell that some of us were already feeling the burn in our legs.
The first couple of kilometres were mostly uphill, with narrow trails surrounded by thick forest on both sides. We took short breaks in between, drinking water and catching our breath. What I found most surprising was the feeling of team spirit. Even though we were all walking at different paces, we kept checking on each other. At one point, I was struggling a little with my energy levels, and one of my friends offered me a snack, which gave me the boost I needed.
The most challenging part came a few hours in when we stopped to have lunch. We were halfway to the summit, and the views had already started getting more impressive. I remember sitting there, eating our packed lunch, and looking out over the hills and valleys. It was nice to take a break and recharge. But after lunch, I knew it was going to be all uphill from there, literally and figuratively. The final stretch to the summit was a test of endurance. The terrain became more rocky, and there were sections where I had to be extra cautious about where I stepped.
It was tough, but the entire group stuck together, encouraging each other along the way. Finally, we reached the top. We had made it - the view from the top was beyond what I expected. The entire landscape stretched out below us, with rolling green hills, valleys, and distant mountains. At that moment, all the fatigue from the climb seemed to vanish, replaced by a sense of triumph.
We didn’t stay up there too long, though. After a few photos, we began our descent. The way down was easier, but still, it wasn’t without its challenges. I felt a little bit of soreness in my legs, but the return to the base camp was less challenging than the ascent. We finally got back to camp, where we spent some time relaxing, chatting, and enjoying the simple pleasures of good food and company.
Sightseeing and Reflection
I had a bit of a sore back from the previous day's trek, but the excitement of seeing more of the area kept me going. After a quick breakfast, we packed up our things and headed out for some sightseeing before we left Kudremukh. The first stop was the Somavathi Waterfall. We spent some time there, taking in the peaceful surroundings. The waterfall itself was beautiful, but I think what made it memorable was how peaceful it was.
Our next stop was the Belur Temple. I had heard about its historical significance, but seeing it in person was a different experience. The historic carvings on the temple walls and the calm ambience made it an interesting visit. We took our time exploring the temple and learning about its history.
Soon, we were on our way back. This trek had been physically challenging, but it was also a lot of fun. The bonding between the group, the sense of accomplishment after reaching the summit, and the peaceful moments at the waterfall and temple were fantastic. I felt like I had really pushed myself and had a great time doing it.
